| With the general vote of members during the 15th World Congress held in Valencia, Spain, AIMS determined Xiamen to host the 16th World Congress of AIMS (Association of International Marathon and Road Races), which will be held in March 2007, followed by the 5th Xiamen International Marathon (XIM). XIM became a member of AIMS last October. Despite as the newest member of AIMS and XIM race is only two years old, Xiamen won the bidding by defeating other bidding cities including that from UAE, Switzerland, Poland, etc. In the past two XIMs, fully 10% of its participants come from 34 countries outside of China. The flat course runs along major highways beside the sea on the resort island of Xiamen, north-west along the coast from Hong Kong. |
